The Following

I was beginning to get a little bored with all the movie reviews, so I decided to change it up and do a TV show review instead.  Instead of critiquing each season of my newly found favorite show, I thought I would just lump it up into one big review for you to digest so you can decide if this show is right for you or not.  I’m not that much of a horror TV show fan because I have rarely found any out there that have really piqued my interest. The Walking Dead? I was so bored I don’t think I even made it to the second season. American Horror Story? 2 seasons contained enough butchering and everything after that has just managed to butcher itself. Bates Motel? 1 episode and I was convinced the show just wasn’t for me.  The only horror TV that had me addicted from the start was Dexter, and we all saw how that one ended. 6 seasons of bliss and 2 seasons of just dragging me along through the commitment that I had already made.  Regardless, Dexter is still my favorite horror TV show out there.  Recently though, The Following, starring Kevin Bacon, made it onto my radar, and before I knew it, I had started and finished 3 seasons.  Coming from Fox, I had low expectations of how this show would be, but boy was I wrong. Where to even begin with this show…….??? So good I would compare it to Dexter.  The basis of the series is that Keven Bacon plays Ryan Hardy, a detective (or FBI, whatever you prefer to call it) that has been hunting a serial killer, Joe Carroll (James Purefoy).  Carroll, even from behind bars, has managed to put together a cult of serial killers that just continue to grow and grow.  They randomly choose victims and there seems to be drama and crazy situations at the end of each episode, which is obviously what lead me to finish 3 seasons of this in just about a couple weeks. Overall, this is the most badass series I’ve seen since Dexter.  Deaths in every episode, blood in every scene, everything completely shrouded in mystery that just keeps you coming back like a crack pipe; this show is everything for a horror movie fiend.  Now, if you’re expecting any true horror or scares……. don’t; because that is definitely not happening.  Instead, what is happening is completely unpredictable, mysterious, un-stereotypical characters and scenarios that truly take you on a wild and addicting ride.  Kevin Williamson, the creator, adds so many interesting and unusual characters and scenarios that I just couldn’t help but be impressed with the originality and complexity of everything which obviously led to my addiction to the show.  I will admit, season 3 gets a little corny with all the characters just acting like typical FBI agents and not taking as many twists and turns as I would like, but overall, all the seasons are incredible.  I really felt sucked into the show from start to finish in each episode, which I find to be extremely rare nowadays. I wouldn’t classify this show as gory, or scary, or perverse, or twisted even; but its a damn good show with lots of great twists and turns.  I guess I don’t know if I can even classify it as horror, but it definitely puts an awesome spin on the whole psychological thriller/ serial killer genre.  I would recommend everyone check this show out, great thriller / borderline horror. 5 goriest movies

Do you ever feel like you just can’t seem to have enough blood and gore in your films?  Do you often find that you are NOT spending the majority of your horror movie watching time cringing and looking away? Fear no more horror fiends and friends alike.  I have compiled a list of absolute NASTIES.  I myself, found I had to look away more times then I would like to admit with these movies.

Seed

Where to begin with this movie? Just overall FUCKED. Such a disturbing, psychotic, extreme movie. Lots of blood and merciless brutality on the end of the serial killer.  This one definitely hits you from all angles; messes with your mind, pulls at your heartstrings, puts a pit in your stomach, is disgusting to watch, and even grosser to think about.  Lots of scenes really made my heart beat fast with just how shockingly gross they were.  I would recommend skipping the first 5-7 minutes of the film.  Its seriously just unpleasant nastiness and seems to take away from the film rather than add to it. Please be warned though, this movie does contain some (fake) animal gore.

Cannibal Holocaust

You’ve got to give this film credit, it was WAY ahead of its time in the horror movie world.  The idea of your plane crashing into the remote part of a jungle with only a cannibalistic tribe as “companions” is terrifying. Fast forward, and there you are deep in the jungles of South America being hunted and captured in order to be fed to this savage tribe.  The movie looks so real, which is what is the most disturbing. The acting is good and the effects are extremely practical, making it pretty believable.   Again, this film also contains animal gore (apparently real), you’ve been warned!

Dead Alive (AKA Braindead)

This film is a great laugh and not to be taken seriously.  However, that doesn’t take away from just how bloody disgusting it is! This film is as funny as it is gross.  The story line is great and the creative ways in which the characters are murdered and dismembered are just hilarious.  Great mix of humor, guts, and horror.

Human Centipede 2

Just thinking about this film gives me a bad taste in my mouth.  What a pile of garbage.  At the same time though, if you want to challenge yourself and push your limits of what you think is grotesque, give this one a try.  Such a gross out film, that seemed to be its main purpose.  If you can watch this entire movie without looking away once, congratulations, you have officially “out-gored” me.

Headless

Rather than go into detail with what this film is about, I figure I’d just have you do the research yourself.  It saves me from one AWKWARD movie review. I will say this though, this has to be one of the most extreme horrors I have ever seen, not for the weak of heart or stomach. Cannibalism is present, which is actually the least offensive thing I found about this movie. Once the pornographic scenes started, things got weird. To say the least. I found myself closing my eyes, plugging my ears, and wishing I was in a different place for about 70% of that film.  That’s a new record, folks. Lots of blood, among other things to see here.

Housebound

This movie………………. How can I convince you to watch this movie?……… 3/5 stars; is that enough to sell you? The film comes straight out of New Zealand, and the audience gets the privilege of hearing that beautiful Kiwi accent that I just love so much, now you interested? What if I told you the film took an unusual detour from your normal horror and added a few cheeky elements that actually made me end the film with all the good feels. Now do I have your attention? In its own way, this one is a bit of a cheeky, subtly hidden comedic horror.  The film starts out boring and stupid as all hell, I must admit.  The first 30-45 minutes were completely USELESS, you could actually skip the beginning if you really wanted to.  The director did an absolutely terrible job at laying the foundation for the film.  In the beginning, I found that the characters were quite bland, horrible acting, and just too boring for me to care about.  Enter into the 45-minute mark, and the film slowly starts building.  The movie is about a woman who can’t stop committing crimes and as a result is forced into house arrest in her childhood him with her ever-so-lucky mom and dad.  If you can take my word for how good this film is, please just accept that the first half of the film is a disaster and it gets better. Anyways, as said criminal is on house arrest, she hears lots of weird sounds coming from around the house and immediately suspects a ghost.  Upon exploration, she discovers that her childhood home was once a psych ward for insane and psychotic youth; and grisly murder once took place here, causing the mental institution to be shut down and then resold as a house.  Upon finding this information, she launches her own investigation into the murder of the patient many years ago and begins to uncover some secrets about the house, as well as some of the people in her small town.  At this point in the movie, I can honestly say it stops getting corny and starts getting real.  The flow and suspense-building are pretty on point.  Enter cheeky Kiwi humor and this film is suddenly quite a delight.  The only thing I can compare this to, is sitting on a roller coaster, getting strapped in, and getting propelled forward, only knowing that its going to be one exciting, fun ride from here on out. That’s pretty much how I felt.  The director did a great job at incorporating gore, suspense, humor, and intelligence all at the same time.  Only downfall is that these elements are only present in the second half of the movie, hence why I gave it only 3/5 stars.  If you can deal with my rating, then I would definitely go ahead and recommend this film.  The ending is pretty awesome and really throws your for one, as its as gory as it is funny and cheeky. I love Kiwi culture and their sense of humor.  This movie is a perfect example of what happens when this is successfully combined with an above average horror (again, I suck at selling films that are 3.5 stars or less).  Even though the horror wasn’t the best, I would say definitely check this film out, you’ll get a kick out of it. Evil Dead II

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been wanting to watch Evil Dead 2.  I meant to watch it last week.  I meant to watch it the week before that.  I even meant to watch it the week before that one, but hey, procrastination is my middle name.  Finally I got a chance to watch this oldie for my first time and I can honestly say it may have been the best decision I made this week.  A hilarious gorefest, I just could not get enough.  Ash returns to the cabin to relive what he basically experienced in the first movie.  My major complaint about this movie is that it reused many of the scenes and concepts from the first film.  I fully believe that Sam Raimi is a genius and that the Evil Dead is easily one of the most iconic films in horror, but I was expecting a bit more originality in the sequel.  Bottom line of horror movie sequels is that they are never better or even equally is good as the first one.  Seeing as I’ve heard nothing but great things about Evil Dead 2, there is also a possibility that I set the bar too high for this one.  Anyways, to continue with my review, I absolutely loved Ash and the insane man he turned into upon returning to the cabin.  Also, the ‘dead’ stepped up their act and were as mischievous as ever, my favorite being Ash’s severed hand running around the cabin with its own agenda.  Much of the movie was kind of a trip for me, and the corniness factor definitely helped contribute to the non-stop laughs from this film.  Even though the original Evil Dead is one of my favorite horror films, I had to give its sequel only 4 out of 5 stars.  I felt like the sequel was the same story as the first film.  On top of that, the ending of the film was a little too gnarly and trippy for me.  I’m not going to lie, I thought the ending was so random that actually it was quite fantastic, but I still envisioned a different ending that would tie up or at least make sense of what I had sat through.  I liked the creativity and the way that the ending left you hanging, but it was just a little too far out there for my liking.  The whole movie was a little too far out there for me, but I was able to appreciate the over-the-top horror movie corniness and humor they incorporated into the film.  I would love to go on recommending this to everyone, but I’m quite aware this is not everybody’s cup of tea.  Some people just don’t get horror comedy.  For those of us that have seen enough horror films to where we actually can find comedy in it, this is THE perfect film for you.  Some horror fans like their gore to be serious and disturbing.  Evil Dead 2 takes gore and makes it bearable because of the hilarity that ensues.  Who ever though a severed hand could have such a personality and sense of humor? I would have to say this is one of the best horror comedies I’ve ever seen and this is a definite must-see for anyone who is a fan of this sub-genre.

Hey Gorror fans!! Check out this interview I scored with director Mark Dossett. I stumbled upon the trailer for this film online and liked it so much that I reached out to Mark to find out more information on the film.  I was surprised to find how friendly he was and willing to answer my questions.  Everything in this interview is the exact correspondence between me and Mark and nothing has been altered.  Before you tune into this interview, I want to tell you why I’m so excited to see this movie!!!! I’ve noticed that in the horror genre there are psychological horrors, which deal with main characters that have severe mental disorders, and then there’s your typical home invasion horror.  This film combines both types of horror and leaves the viewer wondering what’s scarier, what’s inside your head or what’s outside your head? What inspired you to direct this film?

I simply want to make a movie I would want to see. You could also say NETFLIX streaming helped as well. I got to the point

where I was scrolling thru the instant choices and saying…I want to see another WHEN A STRANGER CALLS or THE SHINING or HALLOWEEN. So I decided to make my own…one that I would want to watch ….over and over.

If you could compare this to other films that already exist, what movies would you say your production is similar to?  

Direct influences in no particular order would be THE SHINING,HALLOWEEN,WHEN A STRANGER CALLS,SCREAM and more recently THE STRANGERS and HOUSE OF THE DEVIL. All these films have a one thing in common besides a great story line. You actually give a shit if someone dies or not! Once you (the audience) become attached to a character, you now have a “good movie” on your hands. That’s when you start screaming…”Run…Go in there…..Shut the door!” Your on the edge of the couch cushion screaming “Oh shit!”

Can you briefly describe the premise of the film to inform both me and my viewers what its about?

Like HOUSE OF THE DEVIL it’s an 80’s throwback film. By the way…Ebay has been a gold mine for props from that era!  So it’s…set in 1988 long before cell phones and the internet were common household items.  Laurie Ann Cullom who suffers from agoraphobia* after being brutally attacked in a mall parking lot is now housebound.  Her fear of the outside world is nothing compared to what she soon finds inside her own home.

*** AGORAPHOBIA is the fear of open or public spaces with no means of escape.Can cause server panic attacks.****

How is this film different than other horror films that are out there?

Well……. it’s NOT a found footage, zombie or paranormal sequel for starters.  I’m not opening this film with a brutal rape scene or random bit character getting hacked up.  That’s lazy writing in my opinion. A cheap way to add minutes to the run time as well as say..this is a horror film. The audience knows that….they paid to see it.  This film has a solid story built around characters you want to know! The opening scene of the film which has a delivery boy “JAKE” bringing Laurie her grocery’s is a prime example.

Jake is on the screen for 5 minutes and he has you laughing! Everyone will identify with him because they are or know someone just like him. That’s how you bring a character to life…simply imitate it! Jake is basically me when I was his age.

There is nothing wrong with making people laugh in a horror movie. THE SHINING which is regraded by many as one of the creepiest movies of all time has some funny moments in it. Jack busting in the bathroom door saying “HONEY I’M HOME” and “HERE’S JOHNNY”…classic!!

The other aspect of why this will be different is I am putting things on screen you will not see the first time around. Almost like a WHERE’S WALDO game.  If you pay attention and hit pause ….the “TORMENTER” is in a lot of the scenes…and no it’s not Laurie!  It’s a film that will stay with you after you watch it. Just like PSYCHO and JAWS.   You don’t get in the shower or swim in the ocean with out thinking about those 2 movies.  That’s basically all I can say right now.

What “true story” is this based off of and how did you find out about it?

I grew up in Hampton Roads Va. Back in 1984-85 there was a guy who was abducting women from the mall parking lot.

He would target women who worked late. He’d slash their tires and when they would walk back to the mall he would show up to help them and then abduct them.  I also heard about a woman who lived in my neighborhood that would never leave her house. She suffered from agoraphobia. The fear of open places that can cause panic attacks! I just merged those 2 events together. The #1 thing you have to create in horror movies is ISOLATION.

SWAT teams and helicopters aren’t scary!  That’s why the first line in the majority of horror movies from the past decade has been “Damn…no signal!” Cell phones changed things drastically that way! In the 80’s it was..”Damn the phone lines have been cut!”

Someone or something in our house is one of the most horrifying and realistic things that can and does happen. Now imagine you are even more scared of the one thing everyone else would do….. run out of the house. It’s that feeling of being trapped. I create that on screen …well….then I got you!  That’s my plan for this film.

Are there any films that you looked up to that helped you develop the ideas for this film?

As far as creepy factor goes….THE SHINING!  Stanley Kubrick did so much to creep people out on that film they don’t even realize it! He had the prop department paint the ADLER typewriter from white to a dark grey to show the progression of Jack’s insanity coming on.  You don’t even realize it but it’s there! The carpet pattern used in the hallway that Danny was riding his big wheel on makes you feel like your either coming or going. It creates a feeling of unease and no escape…subliminal as it is…it’s there for a reason. That entire hotel was recreated on a sound stage as well as the maze. Genius film making!

Gotta mention SCREAM as well….it drew from some of  the major horror films I just mentioned and created a whole new twist on the genre. That movie came at a time when horror movies were pretty much done!Killing Drew Barrymore at the 11 minute mark in that film let you know…all bets are off! This is gonna be different.  More recently  I would point to THE STRANGERS as well ……. and I know I’m am gonna get ripped for this…. but …. I love the look and feel of HOUSE OF THE DEVIL by Ti West! I grew up in the 80’s so it was a fun film as well as one I study on lighting. I literally have tons of screen shots of that movie in a folder on my desktop.

 

Kill List

Not since A Serbian Film or Irreversible have I seen such a shocking and disturbing film.  I just finished watching Kill List and I am completely on my ass, and still almost out of breath.  5 out of 5 starts no doubt, this movie takes the cake for movies that are beyond fucked up.  I am officially in love and hope that anyone reading this post has either seen it already, or has plans to see it in the near future.  If not, this is a top priority for all horror, gore, and disturbing film fans.  The film is based upon the lives of two hitmen, Jay and Gal who decide to take up a job offing people in order to help them with their financial troubles.  Jay is already kind of losing it from a traumatic experience serving in Kiev (which we never find the details out about), and is pretty much teetering on the line between insanity and normalcy.  Between the yelling matches between him and his wife Shel and the brutal beatings he gives those on the kill list, you can tell things are looking bleak for him.  The first assassination on their list is a priest.  Controversial, but not very entertaining.  Their second assassination is a librarian.  At this point, things get interesting.  Gal and Jay stumble upon the librarian’s collection of home films and discover he is a pedophile, pervert, and rapist.  Although it doesn’t actually show what is contained in the footage, the audio from the videos and the reactions from Jay and Gal are enough to let the audience know that these are some brutal sickos and we should be THANKFUL we did not have to witness what was on the film.  This sends Jay over the edge and transforms him into a cold, sadistic killer.  Instead of taking the traditional route in hitman killing (aka using a silencer and 50 pounds of saran wrap), he chooses a hammer as his weapon of choice and fucks this pedophile librarian up.  The brutality was intense, to say the least.  I couldn’t believe how graphic it was watching him bash this guy’s brains in.  On top of that he really loses it when he tracks down his accomplices (who are not on the kill list) and gives them the hammer treatment as well.  It is clear now that Jay has transformed from husband/father to violent killer.

For the first hour of the movie, I have to admit it was slow moving.  I kept checking how long was left in the movie because there really was no climax up until the end.  Halfway through the movie, I wasn’t too impressed with how everything had turned out because it came off as more of a violent thriller than a horror.  I felt like I was waiting and waiting for that twist to come and knock me onto my ass.  It dragged on, and for the most part I was just waiting to be scared.  In fact, I almost wanted to deduct half a point from this film, but the ending makes it all worth it.  Now, what type of person would I be if I ruined the ending of one of the greatest movies I’ve seen this year for you guys?  I’ll keep it short, simple, and vague.  At the hour mark, shit started getting scary, real scary.  The background music was over-the-top amazing, in that it truly set the mood and got your heart racing.  The movie takes an extremely strange twist, and the unexpectedness of this twist make it incredibly creepy and puts you on the edge of your seat.  All the unknown variables in the movie are what make it so scary and I guarantee you will end this movie not being able to get out of your seat for a few minutes because you literally got the wind knocked out of you.

I feel like a lot of people might disagree with my rating of the movie, in that they rated it lower than me due to the slow moving-ness of the plot and the questionable ending that really has no proven explanation.  Yes, the plot began getting boring because there was so little moving the story along, but when the “BAM” moment happens, it gives you a run for your money and leaves you with your jaw just hanging there.  My justification for the 5 out of 5 stars rating is that the twists in the ending were so shocking, unexpected, unexplainable, and even perverse, that this made all the boring parts of the movie worth it.  If you have seen this movie, please post in the comments, as I would love to have some discussions with other viewers about what a mindfuck this whole thing was.  If you haven’t seen it yet, I’m expecting I will be the first person you will contact upon completion of this movie.  Only watch if you dare……

Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers

Why do I do these things? Just….. why? If you haven’t figured out the basic plot for the 6th installment of Halloween it goes a little something like this: Michael Myers is inevitably pissed off at a group of people that he is somehow connected to in the town of Haddonfield and decides the obvious answer is to chase them all down until he kills them. So……. basically the same plot as the previous 5 Halloween’s.  The story made less sense than the other sequels, and of course was equally dumb.  I gave the movie 1.5 out of 5 stars, and thats me being easy on the film.  As far as the plot goes, it really doesn’t make sense, and in a way, butchers the first film, seeing as it adds bits and pieces to the original story that just make it seem too corny and dumb for my liking.  On top of that, the acting was beyond horrific and almost hard to watch at some points.  If anything, that was the scariest part of the movie for me.  I wish I could at least give you a few more details about the plot, but to be honest I can’t make enough sense of it to begin explaining it to someone.  For all the above elements, I SHOULD have given the movie a 0.  The only redeeming quality the movie had was the gore.  Its not like it was a low budget film or anything, everything looked realistic and somehow Michael Myers still found new and innovative ways to kill his victims, even after 5 sequels.  Those parts were cool, but its not worth watching the movie.  Even as a Halloween fan I wouldn’t recommend this one.  There’s way better sequels to this movie out there, don’t waste your time on this garbage.

Thale

Oh Thale, I had so much faith in you and you failed me.  From the second I peeped the trailer I had high expectations of this movie and thought it might be the breath of fresh air I needed from the repetitive slasher genre I have not been able to pull myself away from.  Sadly, I was disappointed because I set the bar high for this one and it didn’t meet my expectations…. solid 3 out of 5 stars. However, I would recommend this movie because I still LIKED it.  The movie had potential but I found that it didn’t deliver as much as I thought it would.  Obviously the storyline was extremely original, the acting was really amazing, visually I was very stimulated, but the story line still fell short because I felt like it lacked excitement and action.

The film starts out with Leo and Elvis performing their daily duties at their job.  They work for a cleaning crew that seems to specialize in crime scene cleanup.  Poor Elvis has quite the weak stomach and cannot stop vomiting at each gruesome scene he stumbles upon.  Because I’m a total sicko, I obviously liked these parts and was intrigued each time they showed what he was actually cleaning up.  The movie wasn’t overly gory, in fact barely gory at all, but what I did witness was still great.  The movie starts getting scary when they are called to clean up an old cabin in the woods.  Obviously when you mix the aspect of abandoned cabin and scary ass forest, you know shit is gonna go down.  What I loved, is it doesn’t go down the way you think it will.

As Elvis and Leo start picking up around the house, they discover a door that leads to an old and dusty cellar (typical).  The cellar is complete with the mysterious creepy, dusty, abandoned set-up that you would ordinarily see in a horror film, except this time there is a bathtub filled with water.  At first it seems unsuspecting until Thale pops out and scares the living shit out of everyone (including me).  At first they think she is just some chick that has been held captive in this basement for x amount of years and begin feeding her and clothing her.  Through a serious of recorded tapes they find in the basement, it is revealed that she is actually a mythical creature called a Huldra and she possesses magical powers including the ability to heal anything she touches and also the ability to transmit memories and thoughts to any human she touches.  Now this is the point in the movie where everything began to fall short.  Instead of there being a climax/ major conflict, you learn her background story which really isn’t all that interesting.  She gets captured by an old man when she is a little girl and he raises her and takes care of her, end of story.  After discovering that she is a creature and not a human being, I thought that shit was gonna go down and the story was gonna get crazy… I was wrong.  The rest of the story is kind of smooth sailing and there is not enough action to really satisfy.  The first half of the movie and the buildup was so amazing, that I couldn’t believe it just fell flat at the halfway point. Ya some cool violent bloody shit happens, but nothing that is really memorable.  I’ll admit, there are a few good scares and this movie is perfect to watch in the dark.

Thale is not the over-the-top movie you’ve been looking for.  It truly is completely average but the only reason I would recommend it is because it is so different than any other horror that has been released.  Nordic folklore is obviously not a subject most horror movies tend to touch upon and I loved the scary twist they put on an ancient tale.  I love learning about other countries, and there’s always something so captivating about folklore because these tales have been around for hundreds and hundreds of years.  This movie isn’t going to put you on your ass with its amazing-ness, but I would definitely recommend it because it was so indie and actually extremely beautifully made considering the low budget.  I wouldn’t put this high on the priority list of scary flicks to watch, but if you’re looking for something new and original with an actual good storyline, check it out! I’m not saying you WON’T regret it, but I surely hope you don’t its kind of a gem.

The Exorcist

I did a little background research and have discovered that The Exorcist was the first movie of its kind, and for that it gets 4 out of 5 stars in my book. As a precursor for all the shitty exorcism movies that come out on a consistent basis, The Exorcist is basically the OG film and sets the bar for all other religious/ supernatural films.  Besides for Rosemary’s Baby, which also dabbles in Satanic children and religion, The Exorcist is completely original and is easily one of my favorite films because of the subject matter.  Poor little Regan, an innocent 12-year old girl, is possessed by a demonic force that not only makes her sexually explicit, but it always gives her almost acrobatic skills in that she is able to completely manipulate her joints.  I may have just made this sound like she turned into some type of pornstar nympho, but believe me, it is much worse than that.  Between fucking herself with a crucifix and vomiting on multiple priests, I would say this demonic force has made her as far from a pornstar nympho as possible.  Regan starts out with little outbursts here and there and eventually it turns physical.  Her appearance is warped and disturbing and she goes from adorable 12 year old to foul-mouthed Chuckie doll look-a-like.  Even though I totally love this movie for its originality, I can honestly say I didn’t feel like there were any plot twists or turns that made the movie truly interesting.

Basically the movie is just about a couple priest infiltrating the situation and performing an exorcism on this young girl.  The setting never really changes and the characters (besides for Regan and her mother) were not complex enough to make an impact on me or to really make them memorable in my head.  Obviously this sexually perverted demon that possesses Regan to utter obscenities, masturbate in front of priests, and even come on to them in the most explicit ways, gave major bonus points in my book. Remember, Regan is 12, just let that sink in. She even goes as far as to force her mother’s face down in her crotch while yelling at her to fuck her.  This disturbing-ness in the movie is definitely what put it high up there as a priority for any must-see movie lists.  The acting is perfectly done as well between Regan and her mother, Chris.  Regan nails possessed child and manages to put many disturbing and memorable images in your head, including a scene where she practically crab-walks down the staircase with blood spewing out of her mouth.  Chris shows the perfect amount of despair in trying to find a cure for her daughter and also the right amount of shock and horror as her daughter’s personality and appearance change into quite the disturbing view to look at.  I would have to recommend this film to everyone seeing as it is literally the original exorcism film and basically started the trend in religious horror movies which are still popular as ever today.  Considering all the advances in technology and changes within the horror genre, The Exorcist is very basic compared to what is out there now-a-days.  However, I truly believe you cannot consider yourself a real horror fan until you have not only seen this movie, but have found a special place for it in your heart.  Oh how 70’s horror flicks always fills me with nostalgia. Now go rewatch this film for the 100000th time, as I am assuming you have all seen it. If not, you should probably stop living under a rock and just peep this already.
